Whether or not you're a lover of lyrical terrorism from the likes of Rakim, Biggie, Mos Def, Kendrick, Andre 3000, MF Doom or Eminem, this playlist does an OUTSTANDING job of providing some serious shine on the undeniable level of skill these wordsmiths incorporate into their art of rhyming.

Before I start writing a new screenplay I spend some time putting together a playlist to keep my head aligned with the film's tone and feeling. One song that really nailed the mood of my latest screenplay was this beautiful treasure of a song called "Paulette" by Balla Et Ses Balladins from Conakry, Guinea.

Man....When I tell you I had this joint on repeat during the entire writing process, I mean by the time I finished the script, I was damn near singing in a new language. There were too many other gems on the playlist not to share with everyone. Please enjoy these joints from everyone from Betty Chung, Misun, Nightmares on Wax, Chicano Batman, Two Man Sound, Tim Maia, Mulatu Astatke and much more.
